Testimonials from friends of Canada Photo Safaris... "Paul was an amazing teacher for my son Alex as he ventures into the world of wildlife photography. Paul patiently took the time to help Alex learn skills to become a more polished photographer. As Alex is just beginning, it was great to see how his confidence evolved from uncertain to confident. Alex has a good eye and Paul helped him to develop that natural sensibility into a strong beginning foundation of a true wildlife photographer. Thanks so much Paul!"
Melissa O'Keefe "I am just starting to develop my photography skills. My mom arranged a trip with Canada Photo Safaris and I never realized how much there was to learn about wildlife photography. Paul kept it simple and it was a lot less intimidating. I learned so much about adjusting my camera and how to use angles and backgrounds to improve my pictures to get great photos. It was a fun and unforgettable experience!"
Alex O’Keefe "Paul, thank you so much for such a great time these past two weeks…it was a trip I will never forget. I can’t wait to get home and review the thousands of great images I took. I look forward to having you as my guide again in the future, Michael."
Michael Mohr "As an outdoor writer, I’ve worked with a lot of guides, but none have provided as memorable an experience as Paul Stone has in British Columbia. His expertise, professionalism and tireless efforts to make us feel comfortable have made our trip something that will endure in my memory for a long time to come. Thank you, John Taranto." John Taranto "To Paul & Christine,I had an experience of a lifetime with the two of you. You both are very professional at guiding and calling the elk. Keep up the good work, Larry." Larry Jensen "I spent a truly unique three weeks, with Paul as my guide, in the wilderness of northern B.C. in the fall of last year. We traveled throughout the mountains photographing elk, moose, mountain goats and sheep. The magnificent landscape and the wonderful animals, all experienced through Paul's guiding concerning the flora and fauna, the hiking, the food and all safety issues, made it an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. Thanks to Paul's long experience and profound knowledge, I felt absolutely safe and still experienced adventure every day. The respect of the other guides, who were seeking his advice several times, showed that he is just one of the very best. I absolutely look forward to returning to Canada soon and would definitely bring my whole family, especially my two daughters, to join Paul on his photo safari tours. Many relatives, friends, business acquaintances of mine (and Germans in general) have this yearning for adventures and already asked me for a contact address to be able to do a trip just as mine. Sincerely, Anke."
Anke im Masche-Felzen, "We found Paul Stone of Canada Photo Safaris' details on the internet, along with a number of other providers who offer photography tours. We did not want to join a standard tour. We wanted a photography trip for just the two of us - at a rate which was fair - and which would work to our timescale of 7 days. Paul established our needs up front and the schedule he proposed and the photographic opportunities this presented to us looked fantastic. More importantly, when we got to Canada, we were not disappointed. Paul delivered what he had promised and more. His organization was excellent and his contingency planning thorough. We always felt that Paul had our photography needs in mind and, most importantly, our personal safety and wellbeing. We asked for affordable yet authentic Canadian accommodation (log cabins etc) and Paul went the extra mile to find us some. Paul cares for his clients and it shows. His knowledge of wildlife is immense - gained from many years working with wildlife and from being at one with nature. Paul's a lot of fun and has a great sense of humour - something we appreciated when we were faced with shooting in a record low of minus 52 Celsius one day. Paul has a thorough knowledge of the behaviour of the animals that are to be found in Canada, enabling him to predict where and when they may be found, how they will behave and so on. This experience results in encounters that are not only excellent photo opportunities, but also experiences to be remembered long after the trip is over. We have no hesitation in recommending Paul and Canada Photo Safaris."
Wendy & Marcus Adams "In May of this year, a friend and I went on a 3 day photo-safari with Paul, to learn about and photograph wildlife of the Kootenays. My friend is an experienced wildlife photographer, but for me it was the first time ever to attempt wildlife photography. I was simply expecting to get a feel for what wildlife photography is all about. I got that, and much more. Not only did I learn a lot about how to approach photographing wildlife in particular in the Kootenays, but I also got some beautiful pictures, something I wasn’t expecting to happen. Not only did Paul freely share knowledge about the animals and the area, and how to photograph it all, but he also became a friend. I wholeheartedly recommend Canada Photo Safaris to anyone interested in learning about wildlife photography, and about wildlife in the Kootenays, Ursula.” Ursula Abresch "We were very fortunate to be guided by Paul Stone, director of expeditions of Canada Photo Safaris, on our recent trip to Northern BC. Paul’s people skills and knowledge of Canadian wildlife became obvious on the first day of our trip. His ability to understand and predict animal behaviour enabled us to see and interact with more wildlife on our 10 day trip than we could ever have done alone. Thanks for a vacation that will provide memories for a lifetime and a new appreciation for the importance to everyone of the unspoiled wilderness of the Canadian Rockies. Best regards, Bill." Bill bowling “Paul Stone is one of the best guides that I have had the opportunity to work with. Not only does he consistently locate the animals I want to film, he also helps me to approach them without disturbing their natural behaviour. Paul’s extensive knowledge of animals of the Canadian west comes from having spent a great part of his life in the field observing nature. Each time I film in this part of Canada, Paul is the first person I call.”
Harold Arsenault “Right from the first moment working with Paul we were on the same wave length. he knows what we are looking for as cinematographers and he knows how to get it. He puts his heart into it and we always got excellent result. He knows the territory and he also knows the behaviour of the animals, which makes him one of the best guides I’ve worked with. There is only a few like him out there.”
Eli Laliberte “We spent the most amazing afternoon of our entire Canada-Alaska trip with Paul Stone, our Canada Photo Safari’s guide. In just 4 hours we saw 6 bears including 2 brown bears 1 with cubs and 1 huge black bear with a tiny cub. We also saw a moose, turkeys, hawks, squirrels and some spectacular scenery. One of the brown bears climbed up a tree giving us some very exciting moments & incredible photo opportunities. We absolutely cannot wait until our next visit. Many, many thanks Paul.”
Craig and Trish Mollenhagen, "We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and feel free to use us as a reference in the future. You are certainly committed to your craft and your enthusiasm as a guide was appreciated. Your knowledge of the area was instrumental in our getting many of the fine photos we got. I don't know how you found the place where we photographed the magnificent big horn rams but it is surely a treasure. I hope it remains off the radar. We all had a grand time. Sean, even though his camera was relatively unsophisticated, got some great shots and really enjoyed himself. He'll always remember the Canadian Rockies and all of their magnificence. Sue, even though she didn't shoot, really enjoyed herself. I think she especially enjoyed our adventure at the beaver pond with the coyotes howling and all. The accommodations were excellent and the food good and hearty. Staying at the Chipmunk B &B was especially nice. Thanks Again, Bob."
Bob, Sean & Sue Ceci "I had never been on a Photo Safari before, so I really didn’t know what to expect. Sure I had my ideas and thoughts, along with some picture ideas in my head. What I didn’t imagine was how personal and unimaginable our experience would be. Our guide Paul Stone, spent literally every ounce of his energy to make our trip as memorable as possible. He is extremely accommodating by helping us plan our trip by asking us what we wanted to see, and by using his masterful culinary skills to whip up dinners and meals you swore came from a 5 Star restaurant. Even the locations where we were booked to stay were always comfortable, cozy, and welcoming. Who would forget the company of an amazing Swiss couple who made their Bed and Breakfast seem like home to us. Paul’s expert knowledge of the land truly is what made this experience one for the memory books. He is determined to get you the best photos possible, of every animal possible. No animal is too small, nor too big to be ignored. Being with Paul in his 7 passenger truck allowed us to get closer and more intimate with the wildlife and wilderness than if we had taken a tour bus or anything else for that matter. Often times we would find ourselves pulling over out of the car to run up mountainside to chase after some Big Horned Sheep or down a bank through some woods to follow a Black Bear. Paul’s knack for adventure is contagious, and you can’t help but feel pumped up about the next location on our trip. We took unbelievable pictures of Wolves, Big Horned Sheep and Mountain Goats, Elk, Coyote, Bison, and Black Bears, to name a few. The pictures were astonishing, but what makes them so worthwhile was the experience behind them. Looking at the pictures we see how lucky we were to get such amazing shots of wonderful animals and landscapes, but we will never forget the memories and experiences that came with them, and we have Paul to thank for that. I truly recommend letting Paul take you on a Safari you will not soon forget."
Sean Ceci, "Accommodating, Enthusiastic, Extremely knowledgeable, Fun, Adventurous. All words I would use to describe Paul Stone, Director of Canada Photo Safaris. As someone shooting wildlife video, I was not sure what to expect from hiring the services of a photography specialist for a day shooting wildlife in the West Kootenays, but Paul is much more than just that. He was not only able to guide me to where the wildlife was I wanted to shoot, but had the knowledge to offer plenty of free advice on getting the right shots. His knowledge of the area & its flora & fauna was astounding, matched only by his drive & determination to provide the best guiding service possible. I will definitely be looking to use his services again in the future & would highly recommend him to anyone, be they photographers, videographers, or just someone looking to see & learn about wildlife in British Columbia. Thank you Paul for your great service, regards, Bryce."
