Glaciers and waterfalls, ancient villages, ghost towns and grizzlies.
Our Great Bear Rainforest package combines exceptional grizzly bear viewing and photography with aboriginal culture, pioneer lifestyle and spectacular coastal mountain scenery. While exploring ancient aboriginal villages and totem poles, you will be surrounded by magnificent vistas of soaring snow-capped peaks, immense glaciers, fiords, waterfalls and staggeringly beautiful virgin coastal wilderness. You will travel through lush valleys and along powerful rivers, crisscrossing the famous grease trail on which the first nation's people have traveled, traded and waged war for millennia.

Experience first nation's culture and pioneer hospitality
Join local Wet'suwet'en fisherman practice their time-honoured dip-net fishing skills for wild pacific salmon, traditional dancers in full regalia re-enacting ancient legends in their great longhouses, and photograph grizzlies as they chase and catch spawning salmon in shallow streams. Experience the remoteness and character of an Alaskan ghost town and return a richer person for having been a guest in what is surely one of the few remaining bastions of pioneer life.
One of the top rated grizzly viewing sites in North America
Our Alaskan grizzly viewing site is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best, ) and easiest, places you can go to photograph these magnificent beasts. With a consistent, healthy run of chum and pink salmon, Fish creek is one of the few places you are almost certainly assured consistent photography opportunities of bears at 30 meters or less. The bears behave in a completely calm and natural manner, as if you weren't there at all. Accessible to people of all abilities the elevated wooden boardwalk provides the safest bear viewing experience available today. U.S. forest service rangers are present and on duty at all times to ensure that strict protocols regarding the presence of food and people's behaviour are maintained. You will likely meet several well known professional photographers who make this site an annual pilgrimage, always seeking that new and exciting shot for their magazines, books and calendars.
While traveling with us, you will be staying at comfortable, modern log cabins, chalets and hotels that inspire an atmosphere of Canadian history and culture. Delicious home cooked style meals are prepared by your guide or ordered at available higher quality restaurants. Snacks and refreshments are provided while traveling. In some instances you may share in the camaraderie and purely Canadian experience of aboriginal and early settler style campfire meals.
This 5 day package is all inclusive, 2 full days of grizzly bear viewing and glacier tours, 1 full day of aboriginal cultural experience, 2 full days great bear rainforest tour through the heart of spirit bear territory, 4 night's accommodation, meals, guides and transportation from Smithers.
